Chapter Z2 was started in April 1991, then
being known as the Texas 2 Chapter Z with the first meeting at Steak Kountry in Sherman, Texas. The first Chapter Director
was Russ Martin, Secretary, Pat Carey and Rider Educator Bill Toland. At that time Texas was divided in half with Texas 1
to the south and Texas 2 to the north. Many fun times were had by all at the Texas Rallies with fun competition between Texas
1 and Texas 2. The first rally for Chapter Z was at the municipal Airport in Sherman, in April 1992 and thus started the April
Fool’s rally that has continued throughout the years always in the month of April and has always been one of the first
rallies of the year. The rallies have seen all types of weather, from snow to rain, (lots of rain) but always with a lot of
support and smiles from our area chapters. Later GWRRA changed the area of Texas to being one area. As some of the Chapters
had the same letters, they had to designate 1 or 2 making CHAPTER Z2.
In 1995, with the help of Phil and Terry Laquey
A/CD’s our Motto was established as the “Lone Star Z’s. Phil did the artwork for our motto and we wear this
proudly on our chapter shirts. Many members have come and gone but always with the main objective being on Friendship, Fun
and Safety, and old members returning for visits from time to time. In 2001, Chapter Z2 made the move to McKinney, reaching
out to a larger area of north Texas. Through the years the chapter has been very active in participating with local and state
events, rides, and other activities. In 2003 came our mascot “Cody Coyote”. Thanks to our Newsletter editors Rich
& Vicki Boslow, who played a very big part in putting Cody together. Thanks to the efforts of so many that have given
their time and energy to support Chapter Z2, to say thank you, is so small. The rewards are great in the life long friendships
that are make in being a part of GWRRA and most of all Chapter Z2. This being just a small part of our history, we are looking
to the future, planning more rides, fun events, and making new friends. We encourage new members to join us.
